Although the JOOLA Inside may not have been designed for the Olympics, the brand is experienced, known, and trusted by professionals, so it’s a pretty safe bet when it comes to quality.

Assembling is one of the easiest we’ve ever experienced for a ping pong table, despite the instructions lacking some clarity. Through solo efforts, it took a total of twenty-five minutes to have it ready to play on. It comes almost pre-assembled, with the only efforts being to set up the net and to attach the wheels with screws. The end legs are adjustable, meaning if you’re planning on placing the table on an uneven surface then you can easily make the table level and sturdy.

The wheels make this table very easy to move around, and unlike some other ping pong tables we’ve used, when moving it doesn’t feel as though it’s going to topple at any moment. When the tables in use, the wheels can be locked to keep it in place. However, it is quite heavy and moving needs an extra pair of hands.

The table when assembled is in two halves, meaning when not being played with it is very easy to store as it takes up very little space, and you can nest the halves comfortably inside each other for even more space-saving. However, because the table is in two halves when in play it is only held together by the net. Assembling was very, very easy, and the instructions were nice and clear. It comes almost fully pre-assembled, only needing you to attach the wheels, leg assembly, and fix on the net. It took us fifteen minutes to assemble the table in total, but it did need two people and some extra tools to tighten all the nuts and bolts. The legs are adjustable too, meaning you can set up the table on any kind of uneven surface and still make it flat and sturdy enough to play on.

The table rolls on wheels and is highly movable, but it is also pretty heavy, so you might need two people when moving it around. The table is in two halves, and when each half is folded up, they’re thin and manageable.

The JOOLA NOVA DX comes mostly pre-assembled, with the only efforts being to put on the wheels and net. It’s very easy to assemble with very clear instructions—it took us two people and fifteen minutes to get it ready to play on.

Due to the wheels, the table is very movable, but it is also pretty heavy, and two people are better than one. Like the previous tables, it comes in two halves, making it very easy to both move and store away when not in use.

The table itself is sturdy and feels well-made, but the same can’t be said for the net clamps. The net clamps are of poor quality and seem as though they may break at any moment, in addition to the net itself being a bit flimsy and cheap feeling. You could take the net off after playing, which to be honest, isn’t really what you’d expect for an outdoor table. In this case, you could just buy a new, better-quality net. Otherwise, the top of the table is of good quality and has a great bounce, even though the top is very, very thin, but this is something to accept if you’re considering an outdoor table.

The two halves notion, which worked so well on the JOOLA Inside, doesn’t work so well here. It’s scarily easy for the two halves to come apart. Also, despite the legs being adjustable, they’re not really that helpful. If you’re playing on an uneven surface, then one team’s likely to have a height advantage of varying depth.

Finally, the table doesn’t come with paddles or balls, so you’ll have to buy these separately.

All in all, the JOOLA NOVA DX is a good, solid table that, barring the net, seems like it’s going to last for a while. Some occasional pushing together may be needed after any volatile action, such as diving dramatically to reach a shot. Depth could also be an issue if playing on an uneven surface, but with a little willpower and time, you can make it even. As with any outside table purchase, a cover is always a near-necessity to keep it in good condition, so if you’re able, make sure to get one.

Another easy table to assemble, the JOOLA Rally TL 300 only needs you to attach the wheels, and also the patented ball holders on the corners. For us, it took fifteen minutes to have it ready to go. The guidelines were clear, and the entire thing was simple to do.

Once more, this table comes in two pieces, which is secured by the net, but, on this model, it doesn’t really work as well as some other options on this list. However, the wheels are lockable for that little extra support to keep the table together. Be aware that you may find yourself occasionally pushing it back together.

The two halves are light and portable, only needing one person to move the table around. Storage doesn’t take up that much space, either.

The whole table is solid and durable, and there’s no wobble on it at all. The legs are exceptionally strong—this is very much a built-to-last piece. The top, 15mm, is nice and smooth with a good bounce, and the net is seriously great quality and high-end, and stays tight. The adjustable legs help with uneven surfaces, too. It’s easy to clean and maintain.

The unique part of this table is what it comes with; there are four corner ball holders, which are very convenient and a small stroke of genius, and magnetic scoring boards. Unfortunately, the magnetic scoring boards feel more like a last minute thought. The quality of these are low, and they’re generally unreliable. After the initial excitement, you’ll probably find yourself switching back to good old pen and paper, or a tally on your phone.

Again, there are no paddles or balls with this model, so you’ll have to buy them separately.

Final word

The JOOLA Rally TL 300 probably isn’t the best ping pong table you can buy, but it’s a solid construction, and the corner ball holders are a major plus, as they’re so useful and convenient when in play. It’s also a construction lighter than other tables we’ve seen, in fact, so light that even a child could move it into storage.

Their “about us” page on their website hasn’t been updated since 2014. The credibility of the brand isn’t what’s important on this list, but wow, GLD, make some effort.

This table is very easy to assemble. The instructions are detailed and clear, and it took us a total of thirty minutes to get everything ready to go.

Like most of the tables on this list, it comes in two halves, making it very easy for any person to move around, and a good choice if you have limited storage space.

The 15mm surface is at the bare-minimum end of having a good game, is of good quality and has a great bounce in it. The legs are also very sturdy, however, despite seemingly being of good quality, we do have some concerns about how long the table might last. Also, the net is quite cheap and flimsy, so you’ll probably find yourself buying another before long.

The surface is very, very easy to mark, so you might find yourself cleaning it fairly often in comparison to other tables.

The adjustable feet make sure that you can play on uneven surfaces, and the two halves seem fairly solidly together, thanks to the weight of each half, the net clamps and stoppers on the wheels, so we don’t have any fear of the table coming apart. Again, there are no paddles or balls with this table, so you’ll have to find them elsewhere.

Despite being made by an unknown brand, the Viper Arlington stands up, sort of, next to the bigger players. The table itself is all right. However, the price tag seems a little out of line for the quality of table you’ll be getting. This isn’t the best ping pong table available for that price—there are better options available to you.

Like GLD Products, Dazadi sells family recreational items, and they do it in the most millennial way possible—their website’s really worth a quote: ‘We believe in the power of awesome.’ They seem cool enough, but how does such a young, modern company compete with the granddads of STIGA and JOOLA?

This table took us thirty minutes to assemble in total—it’s easy to do, but during set up it’s quite heavy and needs a couple of hands, or at least, one very muscular person with a love of following instructions.

It’s in two pieces, so movability is excellent, as one person can move it, and storage is not an issue either.

The top is an adequate 15mm. It’s smooth and provides fine play and good bounce. The whole table is of excellent quality and feels very well-made. It seems robust, sturdy and capable, in fact, it feels like this table, with care, could last for years to come. The wheels are lockable too, so the fact it’s in two halves isn’t much of an issue as they stay together very well. The net’s not bad, but also not particularly spectacular either. There are absolutely no issues with cleaning it.

The only major detriment with this table is its lack of adjustable legs. This table is very much designed for an even playing surface, but on the plus side, if you have that, the table is perfectly level.

As stated above, excitingly, this table does actually come with paddles and balls! Four paddles and eight balls as well as an accessory bag to put them in, and, as a bonus, even a protective cover comes with it too.

We were taken aback by just how excellent this table is. For nearly half the price of a JOOLA Tour 1800 table, this seems like a rare find, because despite the low price, we’re finding ourselves comparing it to the most expensive and highest-quality tables on this list. The top may be thinner than a Tour 1800, and you might find yourself buying a new net, but if that’s not important to you and you’re planning on playing on a level surface, this table deserves serious consideration. From delivery to play in thirty minutes without needing to buy anything additional, if you’re looking for the best ping pong table for the lowest price, the Harvil Insider is certainly a highly valid option.

JOOLA Outdoor Table Tennis Table

Didn’t take us very long to get back to JOOLA, did it? The ones with the Olympic credibility that is. This is another alternative for your outdoor table, for the same price, and the same company as the NOVA DX. So what’s the difference?

The assembly is the quickest and easiest we’ve ever had, besides the STIGA Instaplay (number ten on this list). Simply add the wheels, and you’re good to go. In total it took us five minutes to get the table set up and ready to play on.

With big, 3-inch wheels that can easily run over grass terrain, moving it around is easy, and it’s also light enough for one person to do it. Again, this table comes in two halves that nest inside each other, making it very easy to not only move but also store away, as it needs only a little space.

This model has a thinner surface than the NOVA, but asides from that, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of difference between the two. The thinner surface does make us a little less optimistic about its longevity and quality of play, but the bounce is fine, and the whole table definitely feels like a good, solid construction. And to be noted, as with the NOVA DX, outdoor tables are usually less thick. The net is high-quality and holds the two pieces of the table together very well. However, without central support, the middle of the table does sag slightly, but not enough to significantly change the ball’s direction.

The surface is easy to clean. Being an outdoor table, it’s rust-resistant and can stay out in all weather. It also has adjustable legs so you can even out your play surface without much problem.

As is the norm here, the table doesn’t come with paddles or balls, so make sure you get them somewhere else.

Final word

This table is hands-down the best ping pong table for assembly on this list, excluding the STIGA Instaplay (number ten on this list). The difference between this and the NOVA DX seems only to be the depth of the surface. This does make this model lighter, but less pleasant to play on. Assembly was fairly easy; it took twenty minutes for us to get it up and to run. However, you will need a wrench, as the assembly needs you to tighten nuts and bolts, so be ready to get your tool bag.

It’s worth noting that this table is very easy to fold up, unlike some other models. In addition to that, it’s easy to roll, so movability isn’t an issue at all. Again, the two halves construction of the table means moving is easy, and it doesn’t need much storage space.

This table is very high-quality in pretty much every aspect. The surface is smooth and flat with a fantastic bounce. The net is also high-quality and simply clips in, while also being very tight at the same time. The whole table is very, very sturdy and robust, and very well-made. It’s also very easy to clean. The thickness is excellent, at 18mm.

The table also has adjustable legs for balancing on uneven surfaces. Unfortunately, the table doesn’t come with paddles or balls, but I think we’re getting used to that now.

Maybe the JOOLA Tour 1800 Indoor Table Tennis Table is worth the money, as there’s not much in the way of bad things that I can say about it. It’s a table tennis table, pure and simple, that does exactly what it’s made for and does it well. You can’t really go wrong with this table, but it’s up to you to judge whether it’s worth those extra dollars or not.

Assembly takes much longer than any other table on this list—reality isn’t quite what STIGA would have you believe from their description of thirty minutes. We managed it with two people in one and a half hours, so you’ve got to be ready to put aside some time to construct this table in comparison to the other tables on this list.

The only table on the list to not come in two halves, the STIGA Synergy stays together and folds up, so takes up a bit more storage space than others listed here.

Quality, maintenance and ease of use

With the top 15mm thick, this table is the lower end of acceptable. It is very sturdy and strong and feels robust. When in place, the playing surface is perfectly level, so your shots aren’t about to fly wildly off.

Due to the fact it’s not in two pieces, there are no adjustable legs, so this table isn’t suited to an uneven play surface.

Final word

The STIGA Synergy is a table probably most suited to those who aren’t too worried about the time of assembly and are planning on putting it on an even play surface, as it’s going to be perfectly level every time. You’ll have to factor in that this table takes up a bit more storage space that a lot of others on this list, but the difference isn’t too drastic.

To finish, we go for the longest assembly time with the previous table, to the shortest assembly time here. InstaPlay means exactly what it says—there’s no assembly required as it’s 100% pre-assembled. Simply remove the packaging and place the two halves together.

Total assembly time for us was a total of two minutes.The table itself is easy to fold and easy to move with its wheels. However, it’s also staggeringly heavy so needs a bit of a team effort, even when it’s in two halves. However, the two halves are very strongly linked together with the net being screwed to brackets, to the degree that when linked, you can push the table around confidently without it falling apart.

Because of the two halves, it’s got a good storage space, as the two halves can nest inside each other.

The 19mm thick surface is the best quality on this list and provides a great bounce and enhanced play. However, the quality of the table is lacking somewhat—the legs seem quite weak and ready to collapse at any kind of excessive weight, and after a few months of being up, the center of the table started to sag without support. The net is also nothing to write home about—it looks, feels and is cheap, and, important for budding professionals, it’s not regulation length, either.

Despite this, it’s easy to clean and otherwise is good for a game, with that extra bounce from the thick surface noticeable and enjoyable. It also doesn’t have adjustable legs, so it’d be fairly useless on an uneven surface. It doesn’t come with paddles or balls, so you’ll have to buy those in addition to this table.
